Earhquake and following phenomena

On June 12, 2006, 15:28, a 6.3 magnitude earthquake of 11 km focal depth was recorded by the Geodynamic Institute of Athens in the sea area between Chios and Lesbos islands. The earthquake caused by a 25-kilometer-long northwest-southeast underwater fault, very close to the southern coastline of Lesvos. The vibration became particularly noticeable in Lesvos and Chios, but also in Smyrna and Bursa.

A hands - on course on the Management of Disaster Victims was organized and took place in Rhodes (Greece) in the framework of the curricula of two masters degree programs by the School of Medicine and the Department of  Geology and Geoenvironment of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in cooperation with the Municipality of Rhodes (Greece).
