A comprehensive scientific-technical report on the Mw = 6.6 earthquake and the ensuing local tsunami, which occurred on May 2, 2020 in southern Crete has been published by teachers and associates of the Postgraduate Studies (MSc) Program in "Environmental, Disasters and Crisis Management Strategies", in collaboration with the Ruhr University of Bochum, Germany, and the International Society for the Prevention & Mitigation of Natural Hazards..
In the report entitled "Some Remarks on the Mw=6.6 Earthquake of 2 May 2020 and the Local Tsunami in South Crete, Greece", the earthquake and tsunami of May 2, 2020 and their characteristics are described, as well as both the response of the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean Tsunami Early Warning System and the rich history of the area in large-scale seismic events and tsunamis.
